When do the gates open at Reliant Stadium?

Fans with Club or Suite tickets may enter the East or West Club entrance 2 hours before kickoff. All other ticket holders may enter the main gates (Ford, Amegy, Kroger, or Xfinity) 90 minutes before kickoff. (source)

Is there a sun and shade map for Reliant Stadium?

No. A roof covers the seats, so the aerial lidar we use only sees the roof, not the rows under it. The stadium, called NRG Stadium from 2014 to August 2026, was the first NFL stadium built with a retractable roof, with two fabric panels that split at the 50-yard line and can open or close in as little as 7 minutes. Without the rows we can't measure sightlines or sun minutes honestly, so this guide sticks to the schedule, parking and stadium policies.

Before you go

Bags: The NFL Clear Bag Policy applies. Permitted bags: one clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bag no larger than 12" x 6" x 12"; a one-gallon clear plastic freezer (Ziploc-style) bag; or a small clutch purse/bag no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" with or without a handle or strap. Small binocular or camera cases no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" with a handle or strap are also allowed. Any bag or wallet larger than 4.5" x 6.5", including diaper bags and camera cases, must be a clear bag. Exceptions are made for medically necessary items after inspection at a designated gate. Payment: NRG Stadium is a cashless venue. Food, beverage, and merchandise purchases are made by credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, or Android/Google Pay only.
Getting there: The Houston METRORail Red Line serves NRG Park at the Fannin South/NRG Park station. METRORail guests should exit the rail and enter Gate 2 off Fannin St. Parking and transit.
Food: Outside food and beverages are prohibited inside NRG Stadium. Guests with medically necessary food items may bring them in after inspection at a designated gate.
