Is there a sun and shade map for BC Place?
No. A roof covers the seats, so the aerial lidar we use only sees the roof, not the rows under it. BC Place has a retractable roof; the retractable centre portion measures approximately 100m by 85m, covering the entire playing surface. Seated guests remain covered rain or shine, but BC Place should still be considered an open-air stadium whether the roof is open or closed. Without the rows we can't measure sightlines or sun minutes honestly, so this guide sticks to the schedule, parking and stadium policies.
Before you go
- Bags: BC Place strongly encourages guests not to bring bags of any type. The only bags permitted are a clutch purse or belt bag no larger than 6.5 in x 8.5 in, or a clear plastic bag (including a clear plastic freezer bag) no larger than 12 in x 12 in x 6 in. Exceptions may be made for diaper bags and medically necessary items that cannot fit into a clear bag. All bags are subject to search. Bag check is available on a first-come-first-served basis at C$10 per piece, typically at Gate H for Whitecaps and Lions games or at Lot 457 for full-stadium events. Bag policy.
- Payment: BC Place is a cashless venue; a cash-to-card kiosk is available for guests carrying only cash.
- Getting there: BC Place is a five-minute walk from the Stadium-Chinatown SkyTrain station on the Expo and Millennium Lines; exit and walk up Beatty Street to reach Gates A, B and H, or down to Expo Boulevard for the stadium's other side. The Yaletown-Roundhouse Canada Line station is also within walking distance via Mainland Street and Robson Street. TransLink bus routes also serve the surrounding stadium district. Parking and transit.
- Food: Outside food or drink is not permitted, with special considerations for infant bottles, unopened baby food and medical reasons. Empty personal water bottles up to 1 litre, with or without lids, are permitted and subject to inspection at the gate; permitted bottles can be refilled at concourse drinking fountains. Bottles or containers larger than 1 litre and glass bottles of any size are not permitted.
